In the U.S. the house has passed a “stimulus” package,
that does away with the corporate minimums tax
retroactively for the past 15 years. Corporate
minimum tax requires all corporations to pay at least
some minimum amount of tax, regardless of how many
deductions and tax credits they can find. A number of
corporations will get big bonus tax returns:
-$1.4 billion for IBM
-$833 million for General Motors
-$671 million for General Electric
-$572 million for Chevron Texaco
-$254 million for Enron
This is suppossed to stimulate the U.S. economy?
