  1. you already know i thought it was great, but i’m still amazed at the very fact that i thought it was great. mostly cuz i’m a super huge cynic, especially when it comes to movies made from books i’ve read (don’t get me started about the english patient). but even my worst fears (about the “love interest”, and about frodo’s slightly repulsively cute face) were allayed (the former was appropriately minimal, the latter kinda grew on me).

having not read the book for 20 years, i feel like i’ve just had part of my childhood memory restored — and that’s cool.

i’d like to see it again, but i’ll wait til it comes to tinseltown.
