Venezuela

With the recent events in Venzuela, it is interesting to note the difference in attitudes by the foreign press. In the US, CNN is busy toeing the government line, publishing denial of any relations with the failed coup leaders. This is response to a NY Times article, accusing the US government of just that. Meanwhile, over at The Independent, there is a decent overview of the whole process. The Guardian, meanwhile, ponders, alongside Hugo Chavez, the presence of a US military plane at the island prison where Chavez was taken.
Le Monde, while in no means supporters of Chavez, seems amused by the bungling of the coup leaders as well as by the incredible support by the poor of Venezuela for their ousted leader.

For further interesting commentary, I’ll recommend having a look over at kuro5hin, which is one of the better geek communities for this sort of thing.
