According to this CNN.com article:
Acid rain is caused when pollutants are carried east on winds from Midwest smokestacks and mix with water vapor in clouds over the Adirondacks.
Admittedly, this is taken something out of context, as the speech quoted a group called the Adirondack Council earlier. But the article is about Gore’s attack of Bush’s ‘clear skies’ plan. Which is a national thing. And acid rain affects a hell of a lot more than the Adirondacks. It just seems to me that the article calls for a slightly more general definition of the cause of acid rain in America.
