Best Viewed in IE

News.com is running a story today about how sites are again returning to the bad old days where they proudly displayed buttons tht said ‘this site best viewed in…’

I’m glad that they have sources saying that this is bad practice, but it would be nice to see a stalward like News.com come in full support of designing to standards-compliance. Or mention resources like the WASP (although they link to a previous article that links to it).

However, hopefully a (tech) mainstream story on it will get people to thinking that maybe, yeah, they should design to standards compliance.

UPDATE:
WASP has responded

  1. I didn’t read the article, so they may have already said this, but has anybody thought of saying “This site is worst viewed in Netscape 2.0 running on a XT PC running Windows 3.11 and a 4-color monitor”?
