While on an excursion to McDonalds’

At the payphone in the parking lot next door, a stylish woman in her late twenties/early thirties is on the payphone, smiling. As I approach, her expressions slowly changes to crestfallen, and I hear
-but mom!
– …
-but I-
– …
-But she-
– …

I walk into the McDonalds, eat. 10-15 minutes later, the same woman is on the phone, her face expressing exasperation
-but she’s moving-
– …
-Mom!
– …
-You can’t do tha-
– …
-see you tomorrow.

She hangs up, punches the glass of the booth, cusses and storms over to her car, only to storm back and pick up her purse. I get in my car and drive away.

While returning to work, crossing 4th on Cypress is a couple on a tandem bike. Behind them, in a child-seat pannier is a small child. Both man and woman have trekking backpacks on their backs. Being pulled behind the bike is one of those bike-trailers, on which there is an armchair. On the armchair, is a small white dog, wearing a dog-helmet. I suspect they were moving, by bicycle. That’s dedication.
