delayed reaction glands

So an odd thing occurs. While cycling, I ‘glisten’ (to be polite), in that yes, I sweat, but not horribly so, or anything like that (the ride to work is really pretty tame – I could coast most of the way, I’ve discovered). However, once arrived and seated at my desk, only then do I really sweat. It’s like my body has only just realized that it has exerted itself, and then lets it all hang out, as it were. So the solution? sit in my cycling clothes for 5-10 minutes after arrival before changing.
But I tell ya – what I would do for a shower at work!

  1. I always wanted a shower. There is a shower at my new workplace and it’s great.

The best place for bicycle commuters I’ve ever worked was Creo out in Burnaby.

    Some of the perks:
    – secure bike lock-up in the parking garage
    – men’s and women’s changerooms, each with 3 shower stalls, a dryer (for drying yr clothes after a rainy ride to work so they’ll be dry for the ride home) and hooks to hang yr clothes/helmet on so you didn’t have to bring them to yr desk
    – a $50/month rebate if you didn’t require a parking spot in the company garage
    – an annual fun bike relay race against other companies in the neighbourhood

  3. With me it never seems to matter if I have a shower or not. There is just this block of time that I need to cool off (usually 2 hours for me, which is why i would never bike to work). So a shower is only good for after this cool off period.
