AIR California -AIR BC?

This seems pretty cool.

It’s a nice idea, promotes good things both about the web and about society. I wonder if there’s enough people in Vancouver that such an event could be held?

If you were a lower mainland/Vancouver (perhaps Victoria too?) web developer, would you be interested in a one-day code fest to build an accessible site for a worth non-profit? If you were a worthy non-profit, would be willing to get a free website, over which you had virtually no control, that was built in a day?

I would be. I’ve no idea how one organizes (or perhaps more to the point, find someone to organize) such an event, but maybe, when things slow down, I’ll try and organize something like this for next year (they seem to be held in the fall – a year should be enough to organize such a thing, no?).

  1. Steve, I think it’s a great idea. As you know Lauren and I do this kind of thing on a smaller scale for friends/artists/small business owners who can’t afford sites.

It would be great to try to do it on a larger scale though, as it could be a really worthwhile tool in capacity building for a non-profit/activist group with limited funds.

  3. Count me in should you organize. I donate time annually to a non-profit doing web work. There are so many groups and agencies looking for help I doubt there would be problems finding organizations.
