So I saw this last night on the Daily Show, and found the transcript (It’s about two-thirds of the way down) this morning. I can’t believe it’s true, but this is really what he said:
There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.
I really have nothing to add to that at all, except, to quote Jon Stewart, Whaaaaa?
Update: from This Modern World, is a link to an audiofile of it
