Bushisms Poem

From quotes collected by Richard Thompson of the Washington Post, here’s
“Make The Pie Higher”, by George W. Bush….

I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of madmen and uncertainty
and potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet become more few?
How many hands have I shaked?

They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.
I know that the human being and the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream.

Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!

From Ted, via Day.

  1. ever wonder why this isn’t done for our prime minister? or do we all think that he is smart enough, just not able to talk properly where as we assume that bush just doesn’t have the brains?

  3. Well, I think Chrétien gets a lot more leeway on account of the stroke, which obviously makes some things harder to say. He also gets away with things because of he’s francophone, and we’re all used to certain quirks in how most francophones speak english in Canada. That combination makes it hard to point and laugh I suppose. However, while Chrétien says some odd things, he doesn’t seem to invent words with such regularity, nor mangle common expressions. Interestingly, the republican candidate on The West Wing, an ‘every-person’ candidate, horribly mangles expressions on a regular basis, as one of the characters (Toby) listed off in tonight’s episode. Which, on a complete tangent, was good, but such a barrage of dialogue that I found it somewhat stressful to watch.

  5. Hmmm… not so. I did get a forward of collections of Cretien absurdities. Although given his a francophoniness, less focus was made on his grammar, and more on wild inaccuracies.

The example that springs to mind most clearly was Cretien being asked a question, which he dodged by replying “I’m a politician, not a lawyer. You can’t expect me to answer legal questions.” Actually, Cretien has a Masters degree in Law. Or so the collection of odd quotes asserted.

  7. Favorite Cretien quote:

“I did not choke him, I placed my hands around his throat.”

Seriously though, Cretien can’t top the stupidity of Bush. Why do they let him talk? Certainly not for the “embetterment” of the English language.
