  1. Green tea is one of the best things for you, so don’t worry about it ( have lists of the good things about it if you really want ). It never gives me a high, but a very calming feeling. It’s very relaxing, even if picking you up when you’re feeling tired. Or course different brands make you feel different ways, and also how long it’s been steeped, and how much was int, etc… 😉

  3. green tea has alot of caffiene in it – you probbaly experienced a caffiene high which should not have differed much from your traditional coke high (as in, coca-cola)sans sugar rush. despite the benefits of green tea it is not recommended for anybody on a cleansing diet (probably because of the caffiene although it is okay to drink coffee for some reason) so, there apparently is something bad about the stuff. i guess that just because it’s green doesn’t mean it’s good, which is contrary to all the commands we’ve been given by our parents to eat our greens.

  5. Although green tea does contain some caffiene, (about 10 mg per cup) it does contain much less than black tea. It is recommended that you cosume Less than 400 mg of caffiene per day, so I think you are pretty safe with the amount of caffiene in one cup of green tea 🙂

  7. generally green tea has less caffiene than black tea, but some blends have a lot of caffiene. sometimes more than black teas.

  9. Cam, anyone who can’t even spell caffiene correctly, can’t make a proper contraction, and then has to use a vulgar word, certainly can’t be taken seriously. Too bad you had to make your unintelligent comment to this board; it comes across like a voice of idiocy in the internet wilderness. Grow up before you post again elsewhere.

  15. dave…while i agree cam is a jackass (pardon my language), YOU might want to learn how to spell caffEIne before you bother piping up to take a shot at someone else’s intelligence. nice try. my spelling is nearly flawless and my grasp of contractions infallible, but i am quite fond of vulgar words. i found myself amused by cam’s ludicrous comment. what does an opinionated, know it all such as yourself think of me? are you a hippie turn high school english teacher that never really made anything of yourself so you take pride in showing off your moderately higher intelligence on a green tea message board? please, can you “grow up” and concern yourself with your own comments — and on this board can you limit them to tea? thank you. ps…i just finished a nice cup of green tea with a hint of pineapple — it was quite nice.

  17. also, for those of you who would like to learn something from this message board, it should be noted that cam is correct. green tea — all teas in fact, contain exactly no caffeine. what they contain instead is a nearly identical alkaloid called theine. it has the same stimulating qualities as caffeine so to avoid confusion and mostly for commercial sake, they often are considered the same thing.

  19. beanball – Is theine as ‘bad’ as caffiene? I suffer from heart palpitations occasionally and these can be stimulated by caffiene and therefore stay away from it. Is theine going to have the same impact?

  27. In the wee hours of the morning I was trying to find out if green tea has any caffeine (mind you, I looked the spelling up in the dictionary first) and I was pleasantly amused and informed at the same time. Cam offered some hope–and I don’t mind his vulgarity or his misspellings at all- hey we’re only humans–by saying “you all are crazy, you don’t know what you are babbling about, green tea has no caffeine in it.” Well he did not exactly say it in those same words. Someone took offense from Cam and decided to attack him, green teas aside. And then an enlighted soul named beanball defended Cam and even said something hopeful by saying there is in fact, no cafeene, in tea. : ) Yay! I can finally kick my coffee addiction by substituting teas, and I happen to like green teas. Thanks for the few people who care to find out the truth or something close to it.
