The legs, the aching legs

Played some hockey last night. We get the ice from 11:30pm to 12:30am, which is pretty late. To boot, last night only 8 guys showed up. So we moved the nets forward to the top of the offensive zone faceoff circles (like when you were 5 or 6 years old, playing house-league hockey), and played four-on-four. With no subs. And no real rests, apart from the occasional water break. It was a lot of fun, and with a rule of 3 passes once past centre before shooting on net, it led to some wacky plays. Having 1/4 of the rink behind each net also meant all sorts of fun play behind the net too. But this morning, short on sleep, my legs are tired. They felt jelly like all the way down Davie, and standing up when getting off the bus was a little more difficult than it should have been. But of course, like often how it is after exercise, despite the tired legs, I feel great.

  1. That was fun! I feel pretty good too – despite the fact that I also played squash that morning, that I couldn’t get to sleep until 2:30 (too much caffine that day) and then was up today at 7am for an 8:30 meeting.

I think all the tireness made my meeting go well – the guy I was meeting with had only 3 hours sleep himself so we just kind of stumbled along and got shit done.

One sub would have been nice, but then the nets probably would have been pushed back to their normal positions…
