BC residents have until April 30th to register for the new BC Fair PharmaCare program. This program is not just for seniors. While there is no law that mandates registration, non-registrants will see the deductible on that portion of prescribed medications that the BC Government pays rise to $10,000 per person, beginning May 1, 2003. This takes place for all individuals who do not register! This will affect group insurance plans, because insurers likely will not pay the higher deductible for plan members who do not register. Registration may be done on-line at www.hlth.gov.bc.ca/pharme/ (whew, check out that jaggy CareCard graphic!) or by phone at 1-800-387-4977. It’s easy-peasy and may save you lotsa cash in the long run.
