I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: I hate ecommerce projects. They’re never, in my experience, worth the trouble that they are to build. They are so insanely stressful and fraught with difficulty that I don’t think I’d like working on these projects even if I was billing out at 10 times what I currently do. Honestly, everyday that I have to work on recurring billing systems and failure/retry scenarios fills me with such dread that I swear it takes me 2 days to recover from every 1 day of development.
We should all go back to physical barter. There’s no way I’d have to worry so much if your annual subscription was paid for in, say, chickens. You can’t transfer a chicken digitally. Their feathers get caught in the wires.
