Running better than fibre?

So taking a page from the inimitable Dooce, this post is all about poop! Specifically, the effects of running on my digestive track.

See, I’ve noticed that when I run regularly, I poop much more than usual. And often, after a run, I have to go poop. I sometimes think that all that pounding of the pavement is shaking something loose in my gut, as it were. Does anyone else who runs have this experience? Or know of any traced connections between running at the digestive tract? Because it really seems particular to running. The other activities I’ve done regularly in my life – skiing (cross-country), cycling, hockey & ultimate – don’t have the same effect on me.

Now that I’ve shared far too much info, happy new year!
