Out of the Terrible 2’s

Today, March 3rd, marks the 3rd Anniversary of Pencilneck Software. Jeff and I officially started on March 3rd, 2003, and man, have we come a long way. And much like age 2 is a not so good year for kids, it’s also held to be the make-or-break year for fledgeling companies – something like 2/3rds of companies that fail, fail in the first 2 years. And last year was a tough year for us, stemming from a couple of projects gone horribly wrong. But we weathered that, and made some hard, but important, business decisions, and now, I can quite easily and proudly say, the future has never looked better. Already, at this point in the year, we could fairly safely shut down our sales department, and we’d have enough work to carry us comfortably through to the end of this year.

Of course, we’re not satisfied to just coast, so we’ll continue to grow, and quite likely, we’ll take another stab at expanding this year, only in a more sane, sustainable manner, so that we can handle the work that is almost literally being shoved down our throats. This, of course, doesn’t mean we don’t want your business if you have it. Quite the contrary! We’ve never been more able to handle it, so if you need a CMS, newsletter system, or other software for your site, or web-based project, give us a shout.

(You know, there’s nothing wrong with me promoting my own company, seeing as it is my life, but I always feel…dirty….when I post “promo” entries like this one. It’s why they only happen once or twice a year…
