How to support me

I aim to be a Vancouver Park Board candidate this fall. I’m very excited to have the chance to serve the city over the next few years as a Park Board Commissioner!

However, before I can be a candidate in the civic election, I need to be nominated by my party, Vision Vancouver. The nomination meeting will be held September 20th. To be eligible to vote for me (as well as all the other excellent candidates), you must become a member of Vision by August 20th. To that end, I’m posting below the Vision Vancouver membership form (In PDF format). The best way to help me become a candidate is to fill out the form below. If you don’t want to mail it in yourself, then let me know either by phone (604 318 1956) or email (hello AT tannock.net) when you’ve filled it out. I’ll come to you, pick it up and hand it in to Vision on your behalf.

  1. Why support or join a fascist party that supported and voted for the recent election bylaw and even Eco(nomic) Density, to a lesser extent?

Why? Why the old guards of the Vancouver Club. COPE, NPA, or VISION.

If I knew what I knew now Potvin would even got my vote. And I knew more than many voters got to. Other than some who went to my website.
Even there, if I had less obsticals I could have done more to educate voters and campaign, the press with less did less.

Beverly Ballantyne Running Independent Again would be great, Brian Buchanan, be nice if Jason W Burrows can do it and so on.

  3. Really? Fascist? That’s the sort of rhetoric that nullifies nearly any cogent argument you might have. Given existing historical precedent, Vision Vancouver, COPE and even the NPA all fall far short of any reasonable definition of fascist (there’s a fun collection of definitions of fascism at Wikipedia you might like to familiarize yourself with – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_fascism.)

I’m very happy that you’re running for Mayor, and that our electoral system supports independent voices. I would note that (the position of mayor being an obvious exception), that the mainstream progressive parties in Vancouver are far more likely to support the creation of a wards-type system in Vancouver, which in turn, should lower the cost and required votes of getting elected to council, etc, and thus make it far more likely that an independent could and would get elected to city council. So it would seem in your own best interest, long-term, to get behind at least one of the old guards of Vancouver in the short term.
