Oracle/MS

I can’t say that I’m a huge Larry Ellison fan, or that I’d ever even considered using Oracle except when forces by circumstances, I’ll say one thing – they have interesting marketing practices:

Oracle representatives said attendees of Ellison’s keynote speech were given free coffee mugs emblazoned with Oracle’s new marketing campaign, “Unbreakable.” To poke fun at Microsoft, the company is also giving away cheaper, clear plastic cups that read, “Microsoft: Software for the fragile business. Caution: Does not work with Java.”

  1. i can’t stand the way that he is promoting this whole national database system for the us. he got ‘angry’ when it was suggested that he was only so big on the idea because it would give him huge business, but the truth is that even though he says that he’ll give his software free to the government, it doesn’t mean that upgrades and upkeep will be free, and that is worth tons of money, plus lots of free exposure.

the fact that he is promoting the loss of privacy for commercial gains is sickening to me.
